With this assignment we were asked to re-create a well known architectural structure, that we would assign a new purpose to. Me and my partner were assigned the Geisel Library designed by William Pereira. When it came to 3D modeling it helped me understand more of how buildings establish their supports and how the supports can co-exists with the overall design. Being designed around 1993 this build was definitely ahead of its time, the dark color scheme and large use of concrete helped me understand the brutalism aesthetic, while the large amount of reflective windows and its overall, almost space ship shape, taught about the futuristic aesthetic.

Once the model was completed we were asked to choose any location in San Francisco to place the building on. Me and my partner chose Golden Gate Park, as there was a lot of open space and a relatively safe area with lots of activities to do near by.

In this portion we were asked to take snapshots of interesting views from the building. We had also come up with the idea to make the building into luxury condominiums. We were able to visualize which elements we had to add and how to go about adding these elements in an elegant way by creating sketches of our ideas.

The before and after images are accompanied by sketches that would help me gain more ideas of what I would want the changed build to look like and at what angles would emphasize the rebuilt features. When redoing these renders I realized I had to work on proportions and depth of field.
