lovell health house

LOVELL HEALTH HOUSE.jfif

For our AutoCAD practices we were to case study the Lovell Health house. The health house was designed and built by Richard Neutra for Philip Lovell who was physician and neuropath. It was well known in the architecture world as it was the first steel frame building to be built as well as the first build to use a spray on concrete method. Besides that, its modernistic design was a key factor for its preservation and declaring it a historical monument.

south elevation

With the South Elevation I learned that closer elements had to be bolded and father away elements had to be lightly lined to create a depth of field illusion in the drafted drawing.

The South Section drawing taught about making sure to bold elements that were being cut by the placed section to give the reader a better idea of where exactly these elements would be in real life.

original pool area

The pool area draft allowed me to practice scaling and precision when it came to making final drafts of a build.

The altered pool area allowed me to have some creative freedom of how I would like to better the pool area as well as how to make sure small elements fit into the floor plan, while allowing breathing space.

The Eames House floor plan had me practice how to create non right angle shapes in AutoCAD and how to make section off areas of rooms to provide more information to the reader.

The hotel floor plan exercise taught me how to use the block tool to create identical hotel rooms and make drafting more efficient and fast.
