The parklet project was to create a parklet of my own in any location I desired. I chose the location of Japantown in San Francisco. Since the area is surrounded by cherry blossom trees I wanted to emphasize that in my parklet by making it out of glass. Some of the glass panels would also serve as solar panels for charging stations inside the structures. The Chevron pattern was intended to mimic the patterns in the art of origami. With this assignment I learned how to create curved elements and the importance of spacing needed between elements when large in size.

Being presented to one of the main dinning areas in campus I was asked to make any changes to the build that I wanted to. I wanted to remodel the build to be modern, accompanied with more seating areas to encourage students to sit more often as this would bring in more business. I relocated shelves to accommodate for the increase in foot traffic and ensure students can browse freely .

The high-rise tower that would be located on Alcatraz Island would mainly serve as a hostel that anyone was welcomed to and hosted a variety of activities. With the design I brought it in elements of the ocean, by adding a wave like shell to the overall build. The inner tower would have small surprise of "windows" that are similar in shape to kelp. The provided activities would mainly be recreational sports, giftshops, restaurants, gyms and much more amenities that can be seen in hand drafted floor plans. I learned about twisting elements and the importance of measuring to ensure elements fit comfortably.

The first part of this project was to re-create a famous mid-century modern structure. Me and my team chose to go with Los Manantiales, designed by Felix Candela. We know this build would be a challenge as this would be our first time using the programs. The main elements I was in charge of was the interiors and outdoor elements.

For the second part of the project we were to individually redesign the building or just smaller elements of it. With the sketches demonstrated, added elements like a rain water collection system by taking advantage of how the original building was constructed. Adding solar panels to utilize the large amount of sun Xochimilco (the city the build is located on) gets in a year. Changing the design of the extension to make the main building stand out. Lastly, changing the gridded windows to non-disrupted windows, that allows for a better look at the historical canal.
